1. Quizzes: These will always be announced ahead of time, usually with a week's notice, but never less than 4-5 days.

 

2. Your current administrative tasks -- due by email by 2 pm on Friday January 25th:

    a. send to my assistant, Ms. Rodriguez, an email with your name and a code name (which will be used for grading and returning the quizzes.

    b. if you want to work with specific other people on the exercises, send me an email indicating the names of those to be in a group

    c. if you/ the group wants to work on a particular set of three of the four exercises, tell me.

the information from b & c should be in a single email

 

3. Next step: after receiving the emails in 2b&c, I will construct groups of 4-5 students and assign them to sets of three of the exercises. I will provide the results to the class by Monday 1/28 at the latest.

 

4. To provide time for the groups doing the first exercise to do it, the exercise will be due as follows:

    a. the written submission -- ithis should contain two memos: memo one indicating the position your legislator will take and why  it is good policy  and memo two assessing the political consequences (what groups may be more likely to support or oppose him based on this position.

    This should be emailed to me by noon on Thursday 1/31. I will then share the first memos (the proposals) with the class.

    b. the "legislative debate" -- in class on Friday 2/1 we will all discuss briefly the materials for assignment 4 and the partipating groups, through a chosen spokesperson for each group, will have a debate about the proposals.

 

5. Since this defers discussion of assignment 4 until 2/1, we will skip ahead in the interim, discussing assignment 5 on January 25 and assigment 6 on January 30.
